Curriculum
At Compton CE Primary School, we follow the Cornerstones Curriculum 22 to teach topic, which includes history, geography and science. Termly curriculum information letters are sent home to parents for each new topic. Our chosen curriculum ensures our children have access to their full entitlement of national curriculum subjects which are carefully sequenced to build on skills and knowledge over their time at Compton. Our teachers adapt the lesson content to ensure it is well matched to pupils' ability.
In Maths and Literacy, we follow the 2014 National Curriculum. Wherever possible, links are made to our topic so that we can practise our Maths and Literacy skills. Phonics and spelling are taught daily. We use the Read Write Inc Phonics programme to teach Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2. Further information about the maths we cover in school can be found on this NCETM wesbite link. Curriculum prioritisation in primary maths | NCETM
We follow the West Berkshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.
PSHE and RSE is taught through the Coram SCARF scheme of work which is fully compliant with all statutory requirements. We introduced this to support pupils' emotional well-being and resilience after lockdowns.
For more details of our coverage, please see the topic and subject overviews in the document list below.
Our teachers share termly curriculum letters and supporting resources on their Class Dojo pages.
