Friends of Compton Primary School (FoCPS)

About us

A very warm welcome from all of us!

The Friends of Compton Primary School is a registered charity set up to help support Compton Primary School in West Berkshire.

We organise events and fundraisers to raise money to purchase services or items to enhance your child’s time at the school. A significant amount of money is raised every year, which goes toward making our school the best it can be.

Money raised is used for your child’s benefit.

We have recently:

  • Purchased more than 60 laptop computers for students and staff
  • Paid for Doodle Math/English/Spell/TImes-tables subscriptions (online learning platform)
  • Subsidised school trips and class activities
  • Provided book bags to new starters

If you, your child, or a group would like to do a fundraiser on behalf of FOCPS, let us know and we are happy to provide you online platform to both promote your event and collect funds. All ideas must first be approved by the Committee but as long as it’s safe, legal, and family friendly - we are usually okay with it!

Committee

Being part of the committee is a great way to become part of the school, getting to know other parents and teachers and also to make a real difference to your child’s school experience.

Every year we hold our AGM in October and all positions are up for election. We really encourage new friends and faces and welcome new committee members throughout the year.

  • Chair – Jonathan Taylor
  • Vice Chair – Kayt Read
  • Secretary – Louise Jackson-Burton
  • Treasurer – Mike Riddler

We hold an ever changing inventory of pre-loved uniform! Much of the uniform is only gently used as our kids grow so fast, some even still have tags! We have most sizes available and even some school shoes. Items are priced at 50p per item and available on your Parent Pay app. Help support both our school and the environment. Give us a try!

Money Club

The FoCPS Money Club is here! A new School Lottery, giving you a chance to win cash prizes, whilst raising important funds for our school.

What is it?

In essence, participants pay £10 every three months for entry into a quarterly lottery. School staff draw numbers from a hat to determine the three quarterly winners. Prizes are based on 50% of ‘revenue’, as follows:

  • 30% Revenue – Jackpot
  • 10% Revenue – Runner-Up (x2)

How does it work?

£10 will buy you a unique numbered key ring and enter you into the draw! Half of all sales proceeds will go into a prize fund, with a jackpot and two runner-up prizes. The rest of the proceeds will go towards supporting the school and children through the FOCPS. The Money Club is open to anyone 16 and over – teachers, parents, neighbours, friends and family members! And the more people who enter, the higher the prizes will be! If sixty tickets are sold, there will be a jackpot of £180 and two runner up prizes of £60 each! Draws will be happening quarterly, so remember – you have to be in it to win it!

Where can I get tickets?

New tickets can be purchased from ParentPay for parents, and we are looking at ways to open up sales in the wider community. Please note that once you have bought your ticket, you will need to setup a Standing Order with your bank to pay for future draws. Details on how to do this will be shared with you when you purchase a ticket.

Can I get more information?

Of course! The Money Club Rules are available here, otherwise you can email MoneyClub.FOCPS@gmail.com with any questions.

Matched Funding

Does your company do matched funding or sponsorship? If so – we want to hear from you!

Match giving, or match funding, is a simple way to maximise the fundraising efforts of your individual volunteers. It is an informal, albeit corporate, arrangement between the company you work for and you (the employee). Usually, a company pledges to match a sum of money relating to the amount the employee has either raised or donated to a charity. This is a really easy way for us top up funds from fundraisers we were going to do anyway!

Stikins Name Labels

Looking for Name Labels?  Choose Stikins

Compton Primary School is registered with Stikins, a family owned business, which promotes a school fundraising scheme through which the school can receive 30% commission on every order placed quoting the school reference number (4889).

1. Easy to use!  Stikins ® name labels are made of an advanced material; all you have to do is stick them onto the wash-care label of clothes. They are a one-size, multipurpose label, which can also be used on school items such as shoes, plastic boxes, water bottles, pencil cases etc.

2. They work!  Never lose P.E. Kit, uniform, water bottles, lunch boxes or shoes again. Found labelled items can easily be returned to their owner if labelled.

3. Help your school!  For each order placed using Compton Primary School’s unique code (4889), we earn 30% commission for the school. You can order online (www.stikins.co.uk), over the phone (01270 668076) If you use the link on this website, the school’s code is automatically filled in for you.
