Sustainability
Compton Primary has prioritised sustainability and we are committed to working toward embedding sustainability into all our future thinking, decisions and direction.
At the heart of our community of students, staff and stakeholders, Compton primary has a central role to play in educating its community about the importance of sustainability. To achieve this, we must first practice what we preach. To this end, we have signed up to the Let's Go Zero campaign, declaring our aim to work towards becoming carbon zero by 2030. In doing so, we're joining schools across the UK in this national campaign to show the overwhelming support for zero carbon schools and inviting government and local councils to work with us to reach this goal.

Our sustainability actions to date:
- We have worked with a Let's Go Zero Climate Action Advisor to develop a Climate Action Plan for 2025-2026, highlighting our priorities for the coming year.
- We have calculated our carbon footprint using the Count Your Carbon tool. This will enable us to benchmark our carbon output year on year.
- Converted the majority of our interior lighting to LED to cut our electricity usage.
- Signed up to Energy Sparks to monitor and reduce our energy consumption.
- Appointed eco champions to spearhead sustainability amongst the student body.
- We have introduced food recycling
- Our fabulous FoCPS run a second-hand uniform shop to sell good-quality second-hand uniform.
